Happy Songs

When you've got a bad case of the feels, I know it's tempting to listen to sad tunes and wallow in your pain.

Don't.

Sometimes crying is the best medicine, but after you've already tried that and the sadness is still an itch you can't seem to scratch-- ditch the sad music and and look to this list of happy songs:

+ Just a Feeling by Maroon 5
+ Mouthwash by Kate Nash
+ I Like You by SJ
+ Awkward by San Cisco
+ The Middle (acoustic) by We the Kings
+ Not a Second to Waste by A Rocket to the Moon
+ Silver Lining by Rilo Kiley
+ Your Biggest Fan by Never Shout Never
+ Like We Used To by A Rocket to the Moon
+ I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by Sleeping at Last
+ She is Love by Parachute
+ Trojans by Atlas Genius
+ Let it Ride (feat. Caroline Glaser) by The New Velvet
+ Reflection by MisterWives
+ Riptide by Vance Joy

Hard Rock & American Pop

^^just a selfie in an 800yo mirror. no biggie. actually that's kinda big.

We were in Florence and we still ate at Hard Rock Cafe. We also climbed the Duomo di Firenze, 463 steps to a gorgeous view of Florence. At one point we had to walk around a tiny platform connected only to the wall, a couple hundred of feet above the floor, to the other side of the dome to continue to the top. Only thoughts? I have no idea how anyone was okay with getting up even higher than that to paint all those Italian ceilings. Florence is definitely a lot louder than lovely Venice, because they actually have cars.

For some reason everyone plays american pop music in Italy, everywhere. They don't even speak our language. It makes no sense to me.

I find bands fascinating. I feel like songwriters are sharing their souls with people, and that a group of people can connect so deeply that their music has the same sound, the same feel, is amazing. Everyone's lyrics are different, but you can find people who's soul is so similar to yours, you can join together and make great music. That must be the key to successful bands, their souls are similar, and they are so good at sharing their souls that other people connect, too.

Soundtrack of Day Four:
Whats up by 4 Non-Blondes
Still Into You by Paramore
Time is Running Out by Muse
Sweet Dreams by Eurythymics
Alive by Pearl Jam
Heart Set on You by George Harrison
All The Small Things by Blink-182
We Are Young by F.U.N.
Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Souls on Display

I am interrupting the Italy posts already for this special service announcement. Just jokes, I just wanted to blog about good music and a fun date. It kills me to post twice in one day, especially in the middle of a set of posts, trust me, but it must be done.

Last night me and some buddies went to the Cowboys and Indies concert at Velour in Provo. That place has the coolest feel and the music was great. We saw Bat Manors and Oceanears.

Only negative? I forgot my camera. So I had to borrow pictures from Velour's Fb page. Check check check it out.

There were two couples who danced the whole time. One couple were talented ballroom dancers. The other couple had no particular skill but danced anyway, their friend choose to be embarrassed by it, they choose to keep dancing. I liked watching the dancers just as much as I enjoyed watching the bands share their souls.

Here have some more music

Once upon a summer day I gave you a list of music. I thought that was fun, so I am doing it again, this time once upon a fall day. I love music.

My life's soundtrack: (if my life was made into a movie ALL of my music would have to be played in the background. Which means there would be an excessive amount of "riding in a car scenes" wherein the main character, that would be me, gazes out of the car window longingly at freeways and trees, and music plays.)

new soul by yael naim.
everything at once by lenka.
mushaboom by feist.
bruises by chairlift.
the love club by lorde.
reading time with pickle by regina spektor.
roar by katy perry.
my own sinking ship by good old war.
electric twist by a fine frenzy.
silver lining by rilo kiley.
the show by lenka.
one way or another by one direction.
pompeii by bastille.
such great heights by the postal service.
sweater weather by the neighborhood.
the fox by ylvis.
things that stop you dreaming by passenger.
money tree by walk off the earth.
all alone by fun.

P.S. My camera has arrived!!!

Happy Tuesday

Some days are just perfect for giving a nice person a cupcake.

And then sometimes those same days get even better when your best friend randomly shows up with news that she has crazy connections in the music industry and is going to do amazing things with her talents, and when that happens you simply have to take her out for gelato.

So here's to Tuesdays, and Mo, and the fact that in two months I will be eating real gelato, and to Regan, who is going to be a force for good with her music.

Here's to life.
